Cake up (Taariq Maruzook via Flickr) |
Next month it is National Cup Cake week. Oh yes. The very event we have been waiting for. Small sponge buns with icing on them.
It’s going to be hard to control the building excitement. I know, I know. Some of the cakes might have glitter on them.
However, we can pass the time with an innovative new, erm, thing. It’s called the Little Rooster. And this genius piece of kit is a vibrator you can use to wake you up in the morning.
Really, someone has combined the function of an alarm clock and a sex toy.
We will pause for a moment while you think about that.
Yep. All night. No, idea, tape maybe. Snooze function too.
And stop. It doesn’t improve the more you consider it.
Imagine the ideas that were rejected before that one got the go ahead. Vibrating glasses so you can really celebrate finding your specs; a toilet with batteries for coming while you are going; or a stimulating cagouls for the great o-outdoors.
These two delightful things – a week for the triumph of the trumped-up children’s treat and the weirdest idea of how the female libido might work – were among the pile of press releases that arrive each day.
Ladies and gentlemen of the public relations industry I salute you, you have surpassed yourselves today.

I thought you were joking – then I took a closer look – you didn't mention the snorgazm funtion! What a laugh. Can't believe it's genuine!
lol I saw that press release and had to re-read it. Crazy.
Hi Ellen,
Thank you for writing this evocative piece – it made me giggle.
Anyway, the most cupcakalicious vibrator out there is something I have no connection with at all (other than having met the designer briefly at a trade show). It is a vibrator shaped as a cup cake. On a scale of one to Little Rooster, how does that idea rate, would you say? http://www.cliterati.co.uk/2012/07/toy-previews-the-cupcake-by-shiri-zinn/
(Oh, I am the Little Rooster's inventor – feel free to ask me any questions etc)
Oh yes it is and the inventor has commented below.
Me too. Perhaps I've just lived a sheltered life.
Hi Tony, Thanks. It's certainly raised a few smiles today. What an interesting invention. I hesitate to ask what inspired you?
And I hesitate to answer!
Glad you had fun with it. Some people find it funny. For others, it is something they have wanted all their lives. Maybe the weirdest are those who would prefer to be irritated awake by an annoying beep and start their day grumpy instead of feeling fantastic first thing :).
