3/365 Certificate of Merit

January 3, 2013 By Ellen 39 Comments

Still in the grip of the lurghy, it’s nice to remember (considerably) previous achievements.ย

This was issued after an expedition organised by my late grandfather Eric Arnison. He wanted us to be the last people to the top of the highest mountain in Lancashire. The county boundaries changed very soon after our ascent. One of Boy One’s middle names is Eric and this is partly why.ย

Filed Under: 365, 365 photos, dad, hill walking, Lake District, Old Man of Coniston, walking

I love this. I've climbed the Old Man of Conistion several times but it was in Cumbria then. I didn't get a certificate either. Your Grandfather sounds like a very special man.

A fabulous memory and a great achievement at such a young age. I saw this on pinterest the other day and love it, showed it to my husband and we are determined to do a certificate like this for our son's first trip up a mountain

My bigger two's first mountain was Ben Lomond and I got them personalised mugs to mark the occasion. They were a bit older though.
