“Any fool can be uncomfortable,” as my dad used to say. And he was right.
So trying not to be foolish is quite important to me and cold is a significant source of discomfort. It’s a constant topic too living, as I do, in Scotland. It’s chilly here… quite a lot of the time.
So when Heat Holders offered me something to try, I opted for their leggings. I reasoned that I could wear them under trousers for walking… or standing still outside which is actually far colder than walking.
The blurb said: “The all-new leggings have an ultra-soft brushed inner that locks in heat for longer. Tested to achieve an 0.52 tog rating (whatever that might mean), these leggings lock in more warm air next to the skin.”
I tried them on and loved how they felt. I find that leggings that are too soft or flimsy leave me feeling nervous. I want a certain firmness around the thighs (and elsewhere). And these leggings have exactly the right level of thickness and stretch.
They’re also very warm. I’m normally a bit of wimp about wearing leggings and a tunic in winter and prefer something cosier, but these are very comfortable. Even outside I was just as warm as if I’d had my jeans on.
The second time I wore them the fabric was slightly rougher where the top of my boots had rubbed, but not so’s it prevented me wearing them.
Cosy leggings for wimps.
