In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Shopping for Number One – Great Gifts to Buy Yourself

October 29, 2019 By Ellen 1 Comment

As annoying as it might be that Christmas starts earlier every year, once it has begun, there’s no stopping it. Suddenly, we’re all on a frighteningly fast train hurtling towards the big day. No sooner have we started to spot a few Christmas cards in stores than lights and decorations are lining the streets. Suddenly, the high street is filled with Christmas gifts and decorations, there’s Christmas music blaring out, and it’s all anyone can talk about.

You might already be thinking about gifts that you need to buy for your friends and family. But, it’s also a great time to buy yourself a little something. This time of year can be stressful, busy and exceptionally tiring. You might be busier at work, always rushing around, and many of us face coughs, colds and other seasonal bugs. Buying yourself a gift can boost your mood, and you certainly deserve it with all the rushing around that you are about to do.

Relaxation

When we’re busy with festive prep, sometimes the best treat that we could possibly give ourselves is the chance to rest and relax. Book a day off work to do absolutely nothing. Have a bath, read a book, light some candles and enjoy a glass of wine. Treat yourself to all of the things that could help you to relax and unwind.

Or, even better, treat yourself to a day at a spa or yoga retreat. Either take a friend and spend some quality time together. Or go alone and enjoy some pampering and relaxation. Just treat yourself to some time doing something that you find relaxing. Take the chance to restore your batteries, and get a little extra rest before the world goes totally Christmas crazy.

Sparkles

If you are a woman that loves her sparkles, treat yourself. Don’t wait for someone else to buy you jewellery that you love. Head to Opals Australia and buy something for yourself. Buying yourself jewellery, simply because you want it, can be tremendously empowering and a significant self-confidence boost.

Chocolates

If you’re craving a quick boost, a box of chocolates or another foodie treat that you love, but don’t like to indulge in too often can be great. It doesn’t need to be expensive, or fancy, just get yourself something that will make you smile.

Help Around the House

Many of us are short on time. We spend hours working, commuting, looking after our families, cleaning our homes, cooking and taking care of other people. We rarely get time for ourselves, and we often feel as though we’ve got too much to do and not enough time to do it. It can be overwhelming and being constantly busy can mean that we don’t have the chance to enjoy our lives.

So, treat yourself to perhaps the greatest gift of all. Help around the house. Hire a cleaner for a couple of hours a week, or even just once a month free up your time. Hire a babysitter if you’ve got young children, or someone to do your ironing. If there’s a job at home that you hate doing and causes you stress, hire someone to do it for you, even if it’s just once.
