You can’t have Narnia without first stepping into the wardrobe

January 17, 2021 By Ellen

The snow’s all gone now.

Four tiny degrees (the buttoning of a meteorological cardigan) and we’re back to watery grey and green, plough lines and mud.

It’s making me think about all the small things and their big consequences. You know – the lines that create a novel, the chocolates resisted and the pennies not squandered. It’s all about the adding up. Contentment built on smiles, voyages on plans and bookings, and successes on the smallest actions.

For now that’s how I’m going to play it. What small thing, right now, is best (or at least not the worst) and that’s the thing to do.
