If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Does My Child Need a Tutor?

Over the past few years there’s been a rise in demand for tutoring. Parents are continually looking for ways to push their children and help them reach their full potential. To help you decide whether your child needs a tutor, we have shared some guidance created by an independent school in London below.

Falling Behind

School can be a hectic time in a child’s life, especially as they get to secondary school when they have several subjects to keep on top of. A tutor can help your child with their studies by making sure that they feel confident with their work and don’t fall behind. If they are struggling, they can help them to tackle their concerns and get back on track.

Entrance Exams

Entrance exams offer a gateway to high quality education at private schools so there’s a lot that rides on them. Having a tutor can be beneficial as they can prepare them on how to tackle exam questions and ensure that your child is exam ready. The same goes for other important exams like SATs, A Levels and GCSEs.

Routine

Fighting procrastination is not easy and it can be difficult for children to get their work done. Tutors introduce routine and can help your child to get into the habit of doing their work.

Time Off

Sometimes things happen that mean children need to take time off school. As a result, they may fall behind which is where having a tutor can help.

At What Age Should I Get My Child A Tutor?

There is no right or wrong age to get your child a tutor. Most parents, however, tend to do so in the run up to school exams like SATs and private school entry exams when their children are aged between 7 and 10.
