In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

The Importance of Learning Through Play

October 9, 2022 By Ellen

When we are young we always want to find ways to make things fun and exciting. It’s often part of what makes us keen to enjoy learning, and will help your child appreciate what goes into learning.

Every single nursery will adopt a learning experience that prioritises fun. Life in nursery schools should always feel fun and exciting. Which is why there are many reasons why it’s important for a child’s development.

They help your child absorb what they’re learning

If it involves a game, playing with friends, or involving arts and crafts, then it’ll really help your child understand concepts on a simple level. Fun activities are more greatly absorbed at a young age when they’re not used to concentrating for long periods of time, which is why they’re regularly used.

It helps develop your child’s social skills

Sitting in a classroom with minimal interaction with your peers only makes for a less motivated child at a young age. Using play time and games to interact with others will make learning a lot more interesting. It also means your child is getting to talk to other kids in their class and start to make friends – improving their communication skills as a result.

Helps your child improve their observation skills

Being observant and curious to the world around you is why many of us appreciate learning and continuing to learn. Children tend to use play as a means to find something that relates to them.

However, play is just as important when you’re a teenager, or even as an adult. An observant person is more likely to ask questions, explore their imagination, and be a more motivated individual.

Play is always going to be important. It helps us all learn and become aware of what we can do if we experience learning in a different way, and makes us feel like we’re learning in an exciting way.
