Her menopause drove her mad,
she couldn’t cope, poor old thing.
They nod like the bobbing penises
on a jogging squad of naked bigots
and say ‘ah, that explains it.’
Hot flushes – outrageous cliches.
Whisper it: The Change.
You’re damned right it’s change –
a furious excoriating tornado of change.
You will no longer dismiss us because
our bodies are doing something
you don’t like. Or maybe you
do because it’s easier to make us
sit with the crazy old ladies,
our cats, our knitting and our symptoms.
Look at us – don’t flinch – and
answer difficult questions.
