In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Snow Moon – 100 words

February 5, 2023 By Ellen

Snow Moon

A bright springward afternoon –

cirrus fringes the blue.

Snowdrops nod benign.

Sunshine seduces – a facsimile of kindness.

Walkers pocket gloves,

loosen scarves.

They sit on benches and smile –

trusting season’s end.

There’s a sigh as the day slides away

and horizon bleeds pink to orange.

And shadows exhale biting cold.

Night’s chill creatures are gathering

and waiting.

Winter’s larder is empty –

they’ve been too long hungry.

Cruelty feeding on starvation until it bloats obscene.

As colour seeps from the scene,

twisted shapes menace in the trees.

Things move in moon shadow gloom,

your eyes did not deceive you.
