In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Sinister or sweet?

July 7, 2010 By Ellen

Nearly wordless Wednesday.
I was going to ponder on at length about guns, violence and children, instead I decided just to show you these and ask what you think.
Boy Three picked up one of the weapons from his brother’s extensive arsenal. He could just as easily picked up a bow and arrow set, a water pistol or a sci-fi phaser gun.

A picture of Cormac could never be anything other than dead cute, and certainly not sinister. But the fascination otherwise gorgeous, sensitive boys have with guns is bizarre isn't it?

That boy makes such good pictures, or rather you take good ones of him. I think the gun thing is on their hard drive, along with anything to do with wheels. Mxx

He looks gorgeous as always. Right now, I'm not sure he knows what the gun actually is. But I suspect it will be “in his hard drive” anyway. xxx

    Here from Follow Me Chickadee!
Your son is sooo cute! I don't mind toy guns at all, especially if they're taught the proper usage of guns and understand the consequences of shooting someone with a real gun… I'm a strong proponent of putting the responsibility on the parents teaching what's right/wrong and not the actually weapons themselves. However, I am not a parent yet, and I wonder if my views would change when that time comes.

Thanks for your comments. Mostly he is cute.

Hi Aubrey Rose and welcome, you're right they need to know what guns are really about. I have an early memory of my dad cleaning his shotgun and making me learn the following 'never, never let your gun pointed be at anyone'.
