In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

185/365 The tastiest souvenir at Wheal Martyn

July 4, 2013 By Ellen

You get clog-shaped ephemera in Holland, tartan hats with ginger nylon attached in Scotland and all manner of items made of elephant poo in Sri Lanka. Now Cornwall has eclipsed them all. Better than china windmills, glow-in-the-dark last suppers and cuddly kangaroos, step forward Cornwall

Welcome pasty jewellery.

Right there among the tshirts and exotic types of fudge were necklaces and bracelets made for strings of miniature metal pasties. Genius.

These treasures were on sale in the gift shop of Wheal Martyn clay mine.
Wheal Martyn is an excellent attraction. The Boys quickly revised their rolling eyes as we explored the historic site. There’s plenty to see, buttons to press and even a children’s challenge trail.
The site invites you to explore old tunnels and paths beneath a canopy of leaves. It’s great fun.
Then all of a sudden you arrive at the top and a lunar landscape of an active open cast mine, complete with trucks and diggers.

Ice cream of the day was black currant and cassis. Or at least it was until Boy Three decided he preferred it to his first choice of strawberries and cream.
