What do you get for a child who is showered with gifts? They’ve got aunties, uncles, grandparents and neighbours who dote on them and bring toys and treats come every birthday and Christmas.
If you’re left wondering what else to get for them that they’ll genuinely love, why not consider an experience gift? Not the spa days and hot air balloon days that are batted between adults at every gift-giving opportunity, but how about something fun, exciting, and child-friendly?
Here are a few ideas for gifts that carry on giving long after the big day:
For a magical experience
For the Harry Potter enthusiast, the Warner Brothers Studio Tours in Watford makes the perfect gift. Unlike a lot of experiences, this will be exciting to open too. Book a tour as a gift online and receive an invitation letter and a wand to give as a gift too!
They’ll love to see their favourite props and find out how the special effects were created. And there are plenty of interactive points through the tour, including a green screen, where they can sit on a broomstick and have their photo taken hovering off the floor.
As well as the usual attractions, during the winter there are some special seasonal surprises you can look forward to. Make your visit before 2 February and you can see Hogwarts in the Snow at Harry Potter World. The Hogwarts at Christmas feature will explain all about the use of snow in the films, and give you the chance to see the castle in all its frosty glory.
Head to the studios before 6 January to see the Hogwarts at Christmas festive makeover; see the Great Hall decked in Christmas trees, holly, mistletoe and wreaths. The long tables will also be covered in the food props used to create the Christmas feasts.
For a Wild West experience
For the animal lover, a cowboy experience day in the New Forest will be right up their street. The budding cowboy or cowgirl can learn the basics of tacking and untacking their trusty steed and receive an hour-long riding lesson.
Then a lunch of burgers will refuel them, ready for their afternoon of lassoing and throwing horseshoes. The newly trained cowkids will then take home a certificate, and ride into the sunset.
For an adrenaline rush
Go for a junior driving day if your little ones love to tear about. A junior quad-biking experience is available at different locations across the UK. The age requirements vary depending on the centre, but can vary between 6 and 12. They’ll get full instruction and training before being let loose around the track.
For the 12 to16 year olds who are desperate to get behind the wheel, book them a junior Porsche day. Driving this supercar is a dream come true for any teenage thrill-seeker. They’ll be shown how to use all the controls and how to tackle the racing lines, and then they’ll be able to take control and take a certificate home with them.
Something for the future
These gifts will give them something to look forward to once all the wrapping paper has been cleared away, and they may even learn a new skill whilst they’re at it. Book online to complete your easiest Christmas shopping trip ever.
