Thumbs up Matt |
So there you are one morning minding your own business and thinking that life is really rather dull. Then the next day, you’re running through the mud in the company of the presenting team from the One Show.
Last week Tanya Barrow asked if any bloggers were anywhere near East Ayrshire. I’m about an hour away so I put my hand up. That was me volunteering to run one of the first Sports Relief miles on behalf of Team Honk. I was happy to help.
Alex admires HRH’s big hooter |
In the event, and since you ask, a fleece, two bras (running support without monoboob) and a pair of leggings that are quite flattering when you stand still but then start to fall down the minute you begin running (a detail I had forgotten until I was in step with Matt Baker).
Run faster woman, it’s for charity |
Anyhow, the first Sport Relief Mile of the year was taking place at Dumfries House in East Ayrshire (looks fab, have added to my must-visit list). HRH The Prince of Wales was to set the runners off, but by far the biggest squeal of excitement among the runners (average age 13) was for the presence of X Factor runner up Nicholas McDonald.
Thanks Nicholas, you should have won… |
Nicholas was joined by Alex Jones and Matt Baker of the One Show and some 100 or so kids from local schools, community group members and me. It’s actually quite a big deal to be one of the first milers from the tens of thousands to follow over the next couple of months.
No, no, you’re too late for the Santa auditions |
And as an extra to last year, you can do your mile – swum, run or cycled – as part of Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games across one weekend from 21st – 23rd March 2014. It take place at thousands of locations across the country.
What are you waiting for?
