Tackle any hoarding problems
If you are a hoarder, you will know more than most the struggles of having a messy home. Plus, when everyday mess gets on top of your hoarded mess, it can create a mountain that looks far too big to tackle. But hoard-filled homes can actually have a darker side than just a bit of innocent collecting. But hoard-filled homes can actually have a darker side than just a bit of innocent collecting. Generally, houses full of hoarded items are dirtier than houses that aren’t, simply because you can’t reach certain places to clean.
Plus, if your habit has really got out of control, you may need to climb over piles of items just to get to your kitchen. This can be a health and safety hazard – not just for you but for any children or pets you may have around too.If you have recognised you have a hoarding problem, don’t try and tackle it alone. Instead, ask a trusted friend to come over to help you. Sort your belongings into various piles, including what needs to be chucked in the trash and what can go to charity. You may find it difficult at first, but the sight of a fresh clean house afterwards will make it all worth it.

Consider what may be the reason behind your lack of ‘sparkle’
Even if your home is super tidy, sometimes there is just something about it that doesn’t look 100% clean. Having excess dust in your home is a common cause of this. Dust is especially a problem in older properties, as many older homes were not built with the advanced ventilation we have today. If you seem to have a layer of dust in your home despite all your best efforts, consider buying an air filter.Another example of this is soap scum in your bathroom. You may think this is caused by the excess use of products – however, it is actually caused by hard water (water that contains a lot of minerals). Your toilet can fall particularly prone to this – and there’s nothing worse than a dirty looking toilet when you have guests over. Go storage crazy
Bills, letters, packaging, work documents… sometimes it can seem like our house is drowning under pieces of paper. In order for you organise the various piles which have accumulated and thus feel more in control of your life, invest in some storage boxes.
Label one for letters, one for work stuff, one for bills etc. If you have young children, getting them their own storage boxes can also mean you’re not constantly tripping over leftover Lego. Get them to decorate their box however they would like and this may encourage them to use it more.
