Saturday morning saw us on the other side of the river at St Peter’s Seminary in Cardross. It’s a modern ruin – architecturally interesting but falling to bits.
It’s about to be rescued so this Doors Open Day was the last chance to see it in its ‘raw’ state.
The big boys and I had sneaked a peep a few years ago and found it more raw but less tumbledown.
While there we learned that the Catholic Church had had to ‘deconsecrate’ the place before it could become a tourist attraction. I imagine a reverse exorcism. Interestingly, it’s impossible to deconsecrate an altar so it must be smashed.
