If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Make Happiness Your Default Setting By Developing These Habits

December 8, 2017 By Ellen

Have you noticed that the default setting of most people is unhappiness, indifference, or something that isn’t really anywhere near happy on the emotional scale? People can actually become happier by developing a few simple habits, however, many refuse to believe that their own happiness is up to them. Would you believe it? People would rather rely on external sources for happiness than to find it for themselves.

Develop these habits and you should find happiness becomes your default setting.

Smile For No Reason

Smiling sets off signals in the brain that makes us think we’re happy, even if we had no reason to be happy previously. This means if you’re feeling down, force a smile on your face for a moment or two. It’s hard to stay sad when you’re smiling.

List Things That You’re Grateful For Every Day

Every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to sleep, list as many things as you can that you’re grateful for. The fact you woke up is a good one, but how about family, friends, your health, the roof over your head…there are things both big and small! Gratitude is a huge factor in feeling happy.

Meditate For A Few Minutes Every Day

Meditation is key to feeling happier, as it does wonderful things to the brain. Looking at a scan of the brain before and after meditation should show you just how beneficial it is. You can clearly see things have calmed down. Meditation can even promote creativity, better sleep, and all kinds of other great things.
