There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of blog posts, articles, and opinion pieces floating around the internet, all promising to offer the “secret to a successful diet.” It’s understandable why these kinds of posts are so popular. After all, wouldn’t you want to know what the secret to looking and feeling your very best is? Of course, you would! And yet, so many of these posts say something different. If they’d all discovered “the secret” to a really great diet, you’d think that they’d all have come up with something similar. Well, here’s the harsh truth that you might not want to hear: the real secret to dieting is that there is no secret. That’s it, plain and simple. There’s no magic pill that will make you lose weight or amazing technique that will stop it from being a challenge (although there are some supplements such as Power Life by Tony Horton that can help support muscle growth). If you want to lose weight, then you’re going to have to do it the old-fashioned way: a healthy lifestyle, a lot of dedication, and a heaping spoonful of patience. Of course, just because there’s no magic potion that will suddenly make you thin, doesn’t mean that there aren’t things that you can do to make the whole process just a little bit easier. With that in mind, here are some ways that you can make your diets just a little more effective.
Find the right diet
When speaking with a personal Macro Coach, they’ll say that one of the biggest mistakes that a lot of people make when they first start trying to lose some weight is that they assume that all diets are going to have roughly the same effect. And sure, there’s some truth to that. After all, on a grand scale, most diets are designed to do one specific thing. However, the way that they actually go about doing that thing is going to have a radical impact on how effective you find it. Different diets are going to be more or less effective for different people. Just check the shake that weight reviews to see how much of a different experience two people can have with a specific diet method. It might take a little bit of trial and error before you find something that’s the right fit for you, but finding the right diet is often the most important first step there is.
Make your goals clear and achievable
If you’re trying to set yourself incredibly lofty goals, no matter how admirable that might be, you’re almost certainly setting yourself up for disappointment. Going too far with your goals is just going to make the whole process incredibly discouraging for you. The best thing that you can do is to set achievable goals that you can tick of frequently. After all, you can always set yourself a new goal once you reach your existing one, but having a singular goal that you don’t feel any closer to after months of dieting is just going to make you feel frustrated and unmotivated.
Get a diet buddy
It’s incredibly easy to tell yourself that there’s nothing with taking an extra cheat day, or that you can get away with skipping the gym, “just this once.” However, if you’re dieting with someone else, then those kinds of excuses are going to be a lot less effective. Having a diet buddy is one of the very best ways to not only stay motivated, but it can also make the whole experience of dieting and exercising regularly a lot less isolating. Being the only person in your life who’s trying to make those kinds of changes in your life can be difficult. You’ll have friends and family who are enjoying foods that you want to stay away from and spending all of their time relaxing when you want to be more active. However, if you have just one person who’s in the same boat as you, then things will get a lot easier.
Be patient with yourself
It’s all too easy to end up feeling as though you’re running in place. This is because we’re often trained to want instant gratification no matter what it is. However, that’s just not how diets work. You need to have patience and make sure that you don’t end up getting discouraged because you haven’t met some kind of incredibly unrealistic expectation. Be patient with yourself and don’t feel like you’ve failed just because you’re not in perfect shape the moment that you start dieting.
Do it for the right reasons
If there’s one thing that you should never worry about, it’s what the rest of the world thinks of you. What other people think about your weight is a bit like a fish on land, totally useless! If you want to lose weight, make sure that you’re not doing it for someone else in your life. Make sure that you’re doing it for yourself. If you’re doing it for other people then you’re going to find yourself resenting the process of dieting and exercise, but if you’re doing it for yourself then the whole process is going to be a lot more enjoyable. Your focus should be on a looking and feeling the way that you want to look, not trying to fit into some kind of pointless image that society has try to push you into. If you’re happy with the way that you look, that’s all that matters.
Again, these things aren’t meant to be some secret weapon that will suddenly make you lose that weight you’ve been struggling with for years or make you instantly want to hit the gym every day. Instead, the key is to find the little things that make the whole process slightly easier on a day to day level. If you go into any diet with the expectations that you’re going to see amazing results without any work, then you’re going to be disappointed. If someone tells you that they have a weight loss solution that offers instant results without any work, they’re either lying to you, or they have no idea what they’re talking about.
