Summer is coming! Don’t get me wrong, I love Spring, but I always wish it was a little warmer…and by the time I’ve finished hanging my washing out to dry, April showers usually decide to make an appearance! Hopefully we’ll have plenty of warmer weather to come, which means spending weekends and the summer break with the kids and trying to keep them entertained…there are always lots of places to visit and plenty of activities to try out, but it can get a little expensive – check out this website for information on investments and investment pieces – but fear not. Here I’ve come up with 5 things to do this summer with the kids that won’t cost the Earth and will keep everyone busy and entertained, all Summer long!
Plant and grow
All kids love getting their hands dirty, so why not keep them busy in the garden? As it’s still Springtime, you can plant seeds now and have them grow into beautiful blooms for the kids to enjoy all summer long. Head to your local garden centre or even supermarket and see what you can find, you don’t necessarily have to grow seeds, the kids could work together to plant some bedding plants into pots and planters; they’ll still need to water them. If you’re feeling really adventurous then they could have a go at growing their own veg! And choose the best commercial LED grow light to help your plant grow fast, it can give excitement to your kids.
Create a water park
Instead of heading to an expensive swimming pool or water park, why not recreate your own in the back yard? All you’ll need is a sprinkler, a couple of paddling pools, a slip and slide etc and they’ll never want to come inside again! If you want to take things up a gear then add some bubbles, make up some competitions or create an obstacle course – all under supervision of course. If pool are not your cup of tea, then you might want to consider getting hot tubs for sale instead.
Head to the library
Believe it or not, libraries are a hive of activity during the summer months. With many promoting free reading programmes and materials like the ones at www.little-global-citizens.com for children of all ages. From puppet shows, to guest authors, activity days and more. They’ll also get the chance to continue improving their reading skills as well as having their own little adventures inside the pages of their chosen books – perfect for long car journeys or some quiet time on an inevitable rainy day.
Let them be artists
Do you have a budding Picasso at home? Well head to the craft store and pick up a couple of large canvases and let them get creative in the garden. Whether they’re flicking paint like an abstract pro or painting the flowers they planted, it’s always fun to get creative and messy!
Go camping
In your own backyard! Pitching up a tent in the garden is always great fun. The kids can sleep out if they choose, but if not, they can still have fun playing during the day and everyone can sit and toast marshmallows or stargaze at night. The perfect way to end a gorgeous summers day with the family.
If you’re feeling adventurous this summer, you can go camping out in the wild. Gather your camping gear and supplies and enjoy the wilderness! To protect your camping supplies from getting wet, there are weather proof hunting backpack sales you can find online to purchase a weatherproof backpack.
