By now we’re all fully aware of Coronavirus and how it’s affecting civilisation globally. Some places have been hit worse than others – though many countries have been going into lockdown, with businesses closing, people losing their jobs and, of course, people sadly losing their lives. It’s a scary and confusing time at the moment and when you’ve got a family to think of, the problem multiplies. So, in the midst of everything that’s happening, we thought it’d be useful to put together some health tips to keep you and your family healthy.
Quit those nasty habits
We’ve all got them – whether it’s leaving the toilet seat up, forgetting to pick up dirty clothes from the floor, spitting, knuckle cracking, and all the way to smoking – it’s time to stop them. All of these things can and will affect your health in the long run and let’s face it – they’re very unhygienic! There are many ways you can help kick a habit of a lifetime:
- Distractions
- Hypnosis – there are thousands of free hypnosis tapes online for all sorts of habits. You’ll be surprised at how effective they are!
- If you’re a smoker, consider looking at vape kits to cut down smoking with the long-term goal of quitting.
- Give yourself goals and reward yourselves when you hit them.
Exercise as a family
Being confined inside doesn’t mean that exercise has to stop. Whilst you may not be able to take advantage of the equipment at the gym, and your children won’t be able to use large spaces to run around in, there are still plenty of exercises you could be doing at home. Here are a bunch of exercises you can do at home that can involve your children, but why not try these things:
- Move the furniture to the side of the room and have a dance party.
- Utilise games consoles such as the Wii for sporting activities – and actually put your back into it!
- Tidy races – the fastest person to tidy their allocated area wins a treat.
Get plenty of sleep
We all moan that there’s never enough time to get in that all-important sleep – so use this time to do exactly that! Go to bed earlier, sleep in a little longer (if possible when you have children, of course) and before you know it, you’ll feel more refreshed than ever.
Treasure your family time!
Family time is so treasured because they are occasions that are far and few, and now you’ve got the chance to spend some quality time as a family unit. Sing, dance, read books, play games, teach each other things, cuddle up and have a movie day – there are so many different things you could be doing that we usually take for granted!
It’s understandable to feel worried at a time like this, but as long as you practise correct handwashing, avoid contact with people and follow government guidelines, you can turn the situation into an enjoyable one as a family.
