Today I’m going to write a poem,
but first I’ll pitch a tent,
Today I’m going to reach my creative potential,
but first I’ll arrange a guinea pig funeral.
Today I’m going to experiment with self-expression,
but first I’ll find lost football boots…
Under a bed, with the distracting dust balls.
So I write a list and…
today I’m going to read some enriching prose,
but first I’ll take the chicken out of the freezer.
Today I’m going to file my short stories neatly,
but first I’ll load the dishwasher.
Today I’m going to sit in nature until I feel moved,
but first I’ll inspect a verruca. And then, good grief, I’ll need to google thread worm treatments.
Today I’m going to consider what truth I must tell,
but first I’ll order the new school uniform.
Today I was going to make a start…

I like this a lot. Relate to it, too. There is always a distraction, & I find it hard to do work that requires me to concentrate, when there is something domestic that niggles in my head.
The only verse I’m not sure about is ‘today I’m going to consider /what truth I must tell’.
I’m not sure if it’s the hefty verb or the truth part….
Perhaps just me?
