In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Beads of joy – 100 words

April 6, 2023 By Ellen

Beads of joy

When you died it was hard to see

anything for the tears –

not growing up, nor adventures.

Only a bleak road ahead:

Diminished, downcast.

Without you in it and

full of hard rocks

and other painful surprises.

I didn’t notice when it happened,

but now, over my shoulder there are glints:

of the remember whens, the belly laughs,

the rainbow days, wildwest nights.

They boomerang light that glistens

in my dull hours of right now.

I smile and you lift me, because of those times.

We have beads of joy on a chain

linking us

to everything that matters.
