In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

A success story – 100 words

April 15, 2023 By Ellen

A success story

First: survival celebration,

for weary warriors of weaning.

Second: escape without a fuss,

they’re too young to know.

Nursery days: nail the formula –

run around, eat cake, go home –

pick up at 3pm prompt.

Soft play seasons: beige nuggets

contrast with technicolour plastic tubes

stuffed full of screaming children.

Theme sparks: unicorns, footballers,

circus performers or wild animals,

and it must be better than little Sam’s party bag.

Boundary patrol: Honestly, Charlie’s mum bought cider for him.

Why won’t you?

At least if they’re here I know what they’re doing.

21: I’ll organise my own –

please don’t come.
