Action man
Adverts, before the main feature
eagle eyed: on the lookout for action
with posable physique and fists
ready for a gun and the controls
of his helicopter or tank
an impressive display of military muscle
with uniforms to match –
and that was when it happened:
‘made in China’ on the spine
and plastic pecs, six pack,
but nappy-smooth below the waist
and he didn’t seem quite so tough:
with posability came the inability to
stand to attention ungripped from
a matching accessory army and,
furthermore, he couldn’t put on new khakis
without stuffing his clawhand
into a tiny plastic cup
