In a bun dance

If I'm going to get something, I usually get it in spades - luck (both kinds), children, clutter, dirty laundry, bright ideas, daft ideas...

Funeral tea – 100 words

June 9, 2023 By Ellen

Funeral tea

Over the sandwiches nobody wanted:

A lovely service…

So sad…

More tea?

Did you know…?

Do you remember…?

I wish…

So do I…

We shut our eyes and wished harder than we’d ever wished before
and there you were shimmering over teacups.

Made from dust and misery

and pieces of our hearts,

you were my moonlit adventurer,

Auntie Mary’s stubborn little warrior,

your brother’s fierce secret keeper,

Amy’s cleverest friend and co-conspirator.

We saw all the pieces of you

And the cloak of quiet fell

as you danced one last time between us,

then we knew you were gone

forever.
