When the whole new fridge idea began, it all seemed so simple. A few calls, I go to work, Panther takes delivery of new fridge, food gets chilled, everyone happy.
However, like delivering a baby, the reality is much, much less straightforward than a first imagining. And messier. And more painful.
In the event, last week there was something of a false labour. Leaving everyone tired, sore and apprehensive.
While calls were made and negotiations began, the old fridge had to be coaxed back into life. Icecream had melted – things were tense. (I’m not overplaying this, am I?)
Anyhow, very quickly the delivery firm Arrow XL took hold of the situation and sent me a manager. I would have preferred a fridge, but it was a start.
This was the problem apparently. (Just the one!) So the manager agreed to send me my fridge with four men to deliver it. A four-man drop. (Probably best to pause the fridge-baby comparison here.)
You see. The gap between cluttered breakfast bar and cluttered counter top is narrower than a fridge. Therefore, you need to lift the fridge over the counter top.

And finally after lots of grunting, the signing of a disclaimer, and a few exclamations of horror “we don’t do plugs” you get this…
And rather unexpectedly this…
Which had been lurking in the fluff under the old fridge for some years.
So, thanks to Arrow XL and Appliances Direct for getting us all delivered and installed. Kitchen and new fridge are doing well.
thanks for this – we are thinking of a new fridge, but having read this now realise that NONE of the points of entry to our house would be big enough! so now thinking about an extension just so we can knock a side of the house out to let the fridge in!
Isn't it great to have companies that truly are there for the consumers.
or you could be like us, with three much smaller fridges in different places and with different uses!!!
These things are monsters – although you can take the doors off to make it a bit easier.

Ah, the kitchen stress….we are currently having ours done and it is all a nightmare! Glad the fridge has worked out for you (eventually).
