With the big day less than two weeks away, you might have guests coming over for a visit. If you are then you might want to start thinking about little ways to make your home festive and welcoming to guests. Even family members that you see quite often will appreciate a few little touches to make their stay easier. They might just be sleeping on sofa beds, or you might have a guest room for them to stay in. Either way, there is plenty that you could do. Here are a few ideas.
Tidy Up
If you are going to have extra people in the home, then having too much clutter around can be a little stressful. There will be extra gifts too, so having a sort and a tidy can make the world of difference. If you have a spare room, try to leave a little space for your guest to put their bags or gifts. A shelf or some wardrobe space will be really useful. It doesn’t have to take you long to sort it, just make sure that it is done in advance.
Choose Bedding and Accessories
Whether sleeping on sofas or a bed in a spare room, having the right bedding can help for a good night’s sleep. Pillows seem to be one of the things that people forget to think about. So have plenty of extra pillows in the house. They can make or break a good night’s sleep. Make sure you have sheets as well as duvets and covers. With it being winter, you might want to get throws for them to have as an extra layer, especially if you don’t have your heating on all night. Somewhere like Feather and Black have a range of throws and pillows in all different patterns and sizes. So if facing the shops over the next week doesn’t fill you with excitement, you could always order online!
Towels
Unless your guest knows your home well, they won’t know where to look for things like towels. So either make it obvious to them or give them their own for their stay. The latter is probably the best option, so they know that only they will be using a certain one. Having it set out on the bed as they arrive is always a nice touch too. You could even get a few little basics for them as they arrive. You could leave a small toothpaste and toothbrush out for them, for example. Little touches like that make such a difference when someone is staying over.
Choose Favourite Foods
Having foods and drink in that your guests enjoy is a really nice touch. They will no doubt not be expecting it. But it can make a big difference to them, especially if they have any allergies or intolerances. Then they can just help themselves as they know it is for them. You’ll be busy with plenty of other things, so it helps you too.
Do you have a lot of family or friends coming round for the holidays? I hope you have a fab Christmas!
